2020 Season Postponed

With the spiralling impact of COVID-19 across Australia and its associated risks, Football Federation Australia have today taken the decision to postpone all grassroots Football (including training, trial games and weekend games) from midnight tonight for four weeks (taking us until Tuesday April 14th – the week after Easter). FFA’s press release explaining their decision can be accessed via this link

Player safety and wellbeing is of utmost importance to us and whilst a very significant and difficult step to take, we think overall it is the correct and socially responsible decision. We understand there will be many disappointed people not least of which includes Menai Hawks Board of Management who have put many hours of planning and preparation into the season but the safety of our players, their families and our volunteers must always come first.

To be absolutely clear their must be no training after this evening, our trial games planned for this weekend are cancelled and the start of the season planned for the weekend of 28th/29th March has now been postponed. For those attending the Club Referee Training and Orientation night tomorrow this too is now postponed and will be reconvened at a date to be set.

The finer details of the season postponement will no doubt become clear over the next few days. Please keep your eye on our website and Facebook pages where we will post new information as it comes to hand.
