Welcome to Season 2010
The Board of Management of Menai Hawks Football Club Inc. welcomes you to the 2010 Season. In 2009, the Menai Hawks had over 1,070 players spread across 87 teams.
Season Schedule
The 2010 Football Season starts on Saturday 27th March 2010 and continues until August, with only the Easter break.
Prior to the start of the season teams will be graded and/or allocated, training will commence and trial games will be held. (NB: Trial games may be organised by the Club – information regarding dates, times and venues will be distributed to players/parents as they become available).
Playing Kit
The Club is proud of its kit and expects all players to wear Club shirt, shorts and socks when representing the Menai Hawks FC. Each player is allocated a Club playing shirt at the start of the season. This playing shirt is on loan for the season and must be promptly returned at the end of the season. Club playing shirts are only to be worn at games and must not be worn to training or school, or worn to indoor Futsal, or any other activity besides the normal team game.
Players must provide their own shorts and socks; these can be purchased from Kingsgrove Sports. ‘Bicycle’ style pants are only to be worn under the club shorts and must be the same colour and length as the shorts. Board shorts are not acceptable. It is compulsory for all players to wear shin pads and approved boots at matches, training and grading. Players will not be permitted onto the field of play unless both these items are being worn.
Website
The Menai Hawks FC has a comprehensive website at www.menaihawks.org.au where there is a wide range of information available. If you are online, please visit the site.
Match Reports
Match reports must be sent to info@menaihawks.org.au. Fax and hand written reports WILL no longer be accepted.
Match reports will appear on our web site after Monday of each week during the season.
Injuries
All players are covered by insurance, please ensure that you carefully read the “Accident Support Program” leaflet provided by Football NSW, a copy is located on Soccer NSW website at www.footballnsw.com.au
If a player is injured during a game or at training, please report this within 48 hours and fill out the Accident Form. If the injury needs medical attention the Club must be informed within fourteen (14) days of the injury occurring. Failure to notify the club of the injury within this time frame may jeopardise your claim. Injuries and Claim Accident Forms are to be reported to The Club Secretary via the club’s email or fax 9541 4734.
Getting Involved
The Menai Hawks FC relies on the involvement of volunteers. Please consider how you can be involved.
Coaches, Manager and Referees
All teams require a manager and coach, a role usually undertaken by parents. This year it is again compulsory that all teams including senior teams must have at least either a non playing Coach or Manager. This person must attend all games.
The Club does hold introductory courses for coaches and offers a variety of resources to support and assist all those who coach our teams.
Are you interested in coaching, please contact Michael Kondos (Director of Coaching) on 0413 170 920 for more information.
Referees will be required for 2010, if you are 14 years and older and wish to referee at Black and White levels please see our Head Coaches at registration and grading or our Referees Co-ordinator Ian Zuman on 0405 591 231 for more information. Roo Ball Referees are club appointed and if you are 13 years old you can be a “Club Appointed Roo Ball Referee”
Committee
The Club’s Committee is always looking for volunteers and support. To ensure that Menai Hawks FC continues to function in a successful and efficient way, we need volunteers to assist in a wide variety of positions, many of which require minimal football (soccer) expertise such as groundsman and ground controllers. Every volunteer makes a difference. If you can help in some way please contact the Club Secretary, or talk to one of the Executives on duty.
BBQ / Setup
Every team is expected to help with BBQ and Setup/Pulldown duties during the season. This usually entails a few hours per person per season and your assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Courtesy
If your child cannot, or as a player you cannot, be present at training or the match, please inform your coach or team manager beforehand so that he/she is aware of the number of players he/she will have at training and or the match. If this courtesy is afforded, coaches may be able to organise the borrowing of players from another team.
Conduct
In addition to the club’s Grading Policy, the club expects all coaches to abide by the Australian Sports Commission “Coaches Code of Ethics”: Menai Hawks FC also endorses and expects all members to abide by the Club’s “Code of Conduct”.
In summary, Menai Hawks FC expects all involved with the club to be fair and respectful to referees, opposing teams and to avoid confrontation, regardless of the issues.
