Referees
The Sutherland Referees Association, which is a separate body to the Junior Soccer
Association, controls the training and allocation of official black and white referees
in the Shire.
The Referees Association receives the weekly draw from the Association and they
will then allocate available black and white referees to cover as many games as
possible.
The Club supplies referees for the remaining games mostly in the 6 to 8 year old
age groups and for many games in the 9 & above age groups. These referees are
usually local players and as a Coach or Manager, you should give them your full
support. No abuse of any referees either Club appointed or Black and White will
be tolerated and the Executive will take immediate action against any abuse. If
you hear the opposition abusing young referees, please report this immediately to
the Ground Controller.
Our Club together with all member Club’s of the Sutherland Association and
the Referees Association fully support all referees.
Remember like us they are only human however we must all accept their on field rulings.
FIFA, the world controlling body, has now placed in the rules of the game of Soccer
that referees decisions on field are final and no appeals against a referee’s
decision is allowed.
Under the NSW Child Protection Act 1998 any abuse of a referee or minor 18 years
or younger is a criminal offence and maybe subject to police action.
