Borrowing Players
This is probably one of the most important points for Managers and Coaches to fully
understand. In brief, if for a game you have less than the required number of players
in a team, you may borrow a player from another division or age group. Generally
the player borrowed must come from a lower grade or lower age group, i.e., the 12B
team can borrow a player from the 12C or 12D or 11B or 11C teams.
For teams 9 Years and above "A" grade players can only play "A"
grade, thus in the above example, a player from 11A cannot play for the 12B team.
A player in any team in the 6 to 8 year olds can play for any other team (up or
down grades) in the same age group but only twice in the season.
An individual player can play for another team on two occasions. On the third occasion
the player automatically becomes a member of that team they have played for. It
is the Manager's responsibility to keep accurate records of the number of times
other teams borrow your players. Under no circumstances should you allow another
Coach to approach the parents of any player in your team. Coaches should arrange
between themselves the borrowing of players and not via parents.
If after a player has played for another team three times, they then play in their
original team that team will lose any competition points given in that game.
A borrowed player will need to have their ID card at a game and it is the responsibility
of the Manager borrowing the player to pick up the ID card and return the ID card.
Again, the ID card should not be left with the player.
Any player borrowed needs to have their grade shown on the Match Card and if playing
in the 10 year olds or above, the player must sign the Match Card.
It is a Club rule that if you request a player from another team to come along to
your game that player must be given half a game, unless they are specifically told
that they are going along as a standby only. If there is some doubt that the player
will play, do not put their name on the match card until they take the field. If
the name is on the match card they are deemed to have played in that game whether
they did or did not.
It is a Club rule that you must play your own players in preference to the borrowed
player i.e., a borrowed player should not take the field if there is a player registered
with your team available to take the field.
If a player is intentionally "played up" for the third time or you become
aware that a player has unintentionally "played up" three times, the Secretary
should be advised immediately so that the grading can be changed with the Association.
